“An utterly romantic story about second chances and the power of love.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Ali Hazelwood
A woman must woo her lover’s soul back into his body to wake him from a coma—or risk losing him forever—in this moving novel from the author of The Hundred Loves of Juliet.

Claire Walker has always had her life in perfect order, including her high-powered job at one of Manhattan’s top corporate law firms. Yet the one thing she cannot seem to find is a perfect love to complete it, until fate pushes Matías de León into her path. Matías is a Spanish artist who is everything that Claire is not: free-spirited and creative, chaos to her order. She falls for him, hard—and he for her.
A year later, however, Claire begins to question everything about their relationship. How can they possibly work long-term when they’re so different? Might it be best to end it before they are both in too deep?
Then tragedy strikes while Matías is visiting family, leaving him gravely wounded in a Madrid hospital. And when Claire drops everything to race to his side, she finds she is the only one who can see and talk to Matías’s soul, detached from his comatose body. But that soul has no memories of his year in New York, of her, or of their relationship. Claire soon realizes that in order to lure Matías back to his body, she will have to convince him to fall in love with her all over again. But can lightning strike twice? Can the same magic that brought them together once do so again?

An attorney faces the loss of the love of her life in Skye’s heart-wrenching latest (after The Hundred Loves of Juliet). Claire Walker is on track to make partner at her New York law firm when she meets Spanish artist Matías de León at a gallery opening. They fall hard for each other, but 11 months into their relationship, tragedy strikes when Claire bails on their trip to Spain and Matías goes without her, ending up in a coma following a speedboat accident. Though she’s in the middle of finalizing a merger that would cement her promotion, Claire leaves New York for Madrid to be at Matías’s bedside. At her hotel, however, she sees what she first believes is Matías’s ghost and worries she’s too late. But the comatose Matías is still alive; this is the astral projection of his soul. To reunite it with his body, she must remind him of his love for her—even though, in this form, he has no idea who she is. Skye has such a light touch with the supernatural elements that even skeptical readers will embrace the moving tale of Claire trying to woo back her soulmate. The flawed but memorable characters resonate and their love rings true. Readers won’t want to put this down. Agent: Thao Le, Sandra Dijkstra Literary.

A workaholic New York City lawyer, Claire Walker, falls for Matas de Len, a Spanish-born artist in the city for an exhibition, in this utterly unforgettable opposites-attract speculative-fiction romance. Claire can't resist falling for Matas's charms, yet still struggles to find balance between work and their relationship, even long after they've moved in together and are considering marriage. In a cruel twist of fate, Matas falls into a coma after a tragic accident while on vacation with his friends. Rushing to be at his bedside in Spain and surrounded by Matas's family, Claire finds that a weird twist of fate seems to have given only her the ability to communicate with the ghost of a past-life version of her partner. Claire believes that the key to getting Matas to wake up is for this other version of him to fall in love with her as she explores Spain and grows close to his family. The story is compellingly narrated by Victoria Villarreal and Anthony Rey Perez, who superbly voice the characters' American and Spanish accents. VERDICT Highly recommended for fans of authors such as Rebecca Serle and contemporary-romance stories with a magical-realism twist.--Shannon O'Connor

The narrations of Victoria Villarreal and Anthony Rey Perez will melt the heart of any listener. Claire is shocked with the news that her boyfriend is in a coma right before he planned to propose. When he wakes up, Matias has amnesia, and Claire must do what she can to have him fall in love with her again. Villarreal's gentle yet determined delivery pairs well with Perez's pacing. The two characters' perspectives develop into a beautiful cascade of heartbreak and budding romance as they recount their memories of Claire's move to Spain, Matias's art pursuits in America, and both their attempts at reconciling their love. The dual narrators are genuine and kind in their performances, creating a worthy listen. G.M. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine
