Allie is supposed to be on a fun weekend trip—but then her friend’s boyfriend unexpectedly invites the group to a remote cabin in the woods. No one else believes Allie, but she is sure that something about this trip is very, very wrong…
Maggie just wants to be home with her daughter, but she’s in a dangerous situation and she doesn’t know who put her there or why. She’ll have to fight with everything she has to survive…

Henry (Horseman) twists familiar tropes on their heads in this innovative sci-fi thriller. Three women separately find themselves in troubled scenarios straight out of a cozy mystery, a horror movie, and a dystopian YA novel, respectively. Celia can’t remember anything about who she is when she awakens in a quirky small town. Then her strange but quaint new life is shattered by someone attempting to frame her for murder. Allie’s birthday trip is ruined when spooky events at her cabin in the woods prelude her friends getting picked off one by one. Maggie is kidnapped alongside a group of other women and forced to run a booby-trapped maze. It gradually becomes apparent that these scenarios are even stranger than they initially appear, and the women must discover both how to escape and how they got there in the first place. Luckily, the well-shaded heroines are more than up to the task. Henry has a lot of fun playing with genre here, but at its heart, this book is pure thriller, complete with a twist that will put readers in mind of Don’t Worry Darling. With a fresh plot and a feminist slant that highlights misogyny and elitism, this fast-paced and accessible story still offers plenty of depth. Agent: Lucienne Diver, Knight Agency.

Lisa Flanagan will have listeners questioning reality with her sharp narration of this twisty story. Three unrelated women find themselves in three separate but dangerous situations. The scenarios are representative of a cozy mystery, a teen slasher movie, and a dystopian survival story. Each woman must figure out how to escape her particular situation, along with who put them in her deadly scenario and why they did so. Listeners will feel the excruciating tension ratchet up notch by notch as Flanagan embodies each woman. They may be prey, but they will fight back with strength and feminism made manifest through Flanagan's narration. Male characters snarl and swear like textbook villains--but make no mistake, the heroines are no helpless damsels in distress. Flanagan's powerhouse performance brings suspense and satisfaction.
