FISH-UAL PUN • A cancan-dancing fish may jump the shark of reality, but it totally works in Morgan Fahey’s Poisson Rouge (French for “red fish”) chalkboard panel, a visual/aural pun played on the Moulin Rouge poster by 18th-century French artist Henre de Toulouse-Lautrec.

MESSAGES OF HOPE • Isolated during the pandemic, Louise B. Hafesh used her time to reassess her work and begin a new series of paintings with a positive perspective.

MEET LOUISE B. HAFESH

A SHARED LIGHT • Hafesh used her pandemic-induced isolation to good purpose with her hope-filled Angel series. At one point, however, she realized that maintaining social contact was an important aspect of that hope. To convey this message, she collaborated with artist Lauren Andreach to create a painting in a COVID-safe, socially distanced manner. Her account of the process follows.
