Grades K-2 Although the subjects of these new biographies in the Little People, Big Dreams series (3 new titles) seem unrelated, each person is inspirational in their own right and has contributed to important causes. Louis Pasteur takes readers to the nineteenth century, when this chemist revolutionized global health practices by inventing the process of pasteurization to eliminate microbes and improve food safety in addition to creating the first lifesaving laboratory-made vaccine. The text of each book is appropriate for early elementary schoolers, but the colorful, full-page, cartoon illustrations are likely to appeal to younger children as well. Each book concludes with a brief, more adult-oriented biography of its subject featuring several photographs and additional details. Sources are not cited, but one additional title is provided for readers who want to "find out more." Attractive additions to a reliable series.
