K-Gr 2-Hedy Lamarr's story is full of drama-and technology. Sanchez Vegara and Cole highlight Lamarr's life with clear writing and colorful illustrations. By focusing on Lamarr's childhood in Vienna, the book presents an accessible story of a young inventor supported by her family and teachers, and how collaborative STEM work can lead to exciting innovation. The illustrations typically fill spreads, with text set to complement rather than dominate the scene. A brief time line of Lamarr's life is available in the back of the book with more detailed biographical text. VERDICT For libraries looking to showcase women-and girls-in STEM, this is an accessibly written and beautifully drawn addition.-Jessica Schriver
